Quote # 3

This picture shows the hanging of the Jews by their necks. The Jews were hang for no reason only because of what they were. This also show dehumanization.

Quote"  "Where is merciful God, where is He?" "For God's sake, where is God" "Where He is? This is where-hanging from the gallows..." "That night, the soup tasted of corpses.(Wiesel, Pg 64-65)"
Why this fits into the novel

This fits into the novel because, when Elie stated  " That night, the soup tasted of corpses." He meant when, he saw the death of the Jews. Elie saw the Jews being hung and killed. It really caused bad things to happen to him. He no longer started to believe in a God. He started to be sad and mad now because, of the Jews being hung and killed right in front of his face. He can pretty much taste it. That it was so etched into his memory that he could taste it. Elie wanted all this to stop because, it wasn't right. The Jews deserved to be free. Not kept in camps. Like, what have the Jews done to the Nazis? Nothing at all! So, yeah we agree with Elie wanting all of this to stop because, it is just wrong in so many ways.
Significance
This is significant because, when Elie tasted the soup it tasted like dead corpses. He said this because, he saw the Jews being killed right in front of him and that is why Elie said "That night, the soup tasted of corpses. A man said "Where is the  merciful God, where is He?" He said this because, where is God to help the Jews from going through this hell, with the hangings, deaths, and tortures. Afterwards, the same man again said " For God's sake, where is God?" God is gone and help never came, this is specifically the reason why Elie no longer believed in a God which also in turn shaped Elie as a new character.
